The NCUE/IPA Awards Committee requests the nomination of individuals from academia, government, or industry who have made outstanding and significant contributions to the field of urban entomology. The recipient of the 2026 Distinguished Achievement Award will present the Arnold Mallis Memorial Award Lecture during the conference. In addition, the NCUE Planning Committee has established a monetary award and complimentary conference registration for the recipient. A check and commemorative plaque will be presented to the recipient at the time of the Mallis Lecture.
Nominations for the Distinguished Achievement Award should be made in the form of a 2-3 page letter summarizing the nominee's qulaifications, accomplishments, and contributions to urban entomology. Additional supporting documents (letters of support, curriculum vitae, etc.) are encouraged. The total documentation is not to exceed 8 pages. Selection will be based on the total contributions of the nominee. Nomination packets must be submitted to support@ncueipa.org by February 13, 2026 to be considered.
The NCUE/IPA Awards Committee requests applications from students who are interested in a scholarship award of $1,500 plus complimentary conference registration. If qualified, three scholarships will be awarded - one each at the Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. levels. All recipients of the 2026 Student Scholarship Awards will present during the conference, and the monetary award and plaque will be presented to winners at the conference Awards Luncheon. Those applying for the student scholarship may also apply for the student travel award and student paper competition.
Applicants must be graduate or undergraduate students performing research in urban entomology or industrial pest management full-time at a US college or university. The applicant must have at least 2 months remaining in his/her degree program from the deadline of this application (February 13, 2026). Application packets must include the following:
1. Applicant information, including name, mailing address, phone number, and email.
2. Transcripts (unofficial copies are acceptable).
3. At least one letter of recommendation (maximum of three).
4. Maximum of five additional pages of supporting documents that may be helpful in the selection process. These may include a curriculum vitae, research proposals, list of publications, among others.
5. Submission packet needs to be emailed to support@ncueipa.org by February 13, 2026.
The NCUE/IPA Awards Committee will issue up to 10 student travel awards in 2026 to help defray costs associated with attending the conference. The winning students will each receive $300 at the conference during the awards luncheon plus complimentary registration. Each winner must present a paper at the NCUE/IPA conference in Atlanta, GA in 2026. Those applying for the student travel award may also apply for the student scholarship and student paper competition.
How to apply:
1. Submit a paper title and abstract.
2. Look through Proceedings from previous meetings and provide a one-page (total) summary of which three presenters you would like to meet or work with and why.
3. Application packets need to be emailed to support@ncueipa.org by February 27, 2026.
All student paper submissions will be scored during the conference by a panel of judges. The NCUE/IPA awards committee will grant a first, second, and third place monetary award for each of the student paper sections - Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. levels. Awards will be given during the awards luncheon.
